Making art, whether oil or acrylic painting or pen and ink, is a balance of achieving skillful draftsmanship with the fluidity of creativity. Some paintings are thought or planned years in advance and others evolve on a whim. Each one teaches me something, and the more I progress, the more I see how one can never stop learning through art. My subject matter may vary: landscapes, portraits, figurative, and still lifes, but my mark is distinct and there is usually a bird somewhere to provide a little magic. Each canvas becomes a love letter of sorts to my subject matter.
