Artist: Bonnie Polson
Photography—Metal Print. Size 20” x 40”
Artist statement about this piece:
Where do mushrooms hide? A good bet is along a damp forest trail in October in Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in northern Maine. I’m on the prowl, with camera, tripod and boots. I peer at rotting wood and the base of trees, hoping there may be a mushroom family enjoying the crisp air. I have to squat or kneel to get close enough. They pose modestly for a photo. I thank them, stand up slowly, brush off the sticking leaves, and am on my way.
