Artist statement about this piece:
I have been painting this creek in my neighborhood for over 10 years. Recently the county cleared out the underbrush, exposing dramatic black trunks and brilliant green sprouts. I try to capture the glittering effect. The water is strikingly clear in this part of the creek; two years ago we saw otters in this exact spot. I paint where I live, to preserve what is here, right now. To see the beauty between the strip malls and houses.
